We have a leadership role in:

Children’s Coalition

Inclusion Winnipeg is a member of the Children’s Coalition, a network of organizations which exists to unite the voice of families in matters that have a direct impact on their supports and services.

We are a group of autonomous service provider and advocacy organizations in Manitoba representing different types of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Bringing together the multiple perspectives, we work collaboratively to identify and advocate for better legislation, policies and practices of the Government departments of Families, Education and Health.

The Children’s Coalition watches for trends and identifies gaps in services. While cannot address individual circumstances, one of our member organizations will work with you to resolve the problem or provide advocacy support.

The Children’s Coalition is a member of Barrier Free Manitoba, a non-partisan, non-profit, cross-disability initiative which was successful in promoting the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) and continues to monitor the implementation of the AMA. For more information contact us.

Winnipeg Safety Network

In 2000, Vulnerable Persons Safety Networks were initiated jointly by the Department of Family Services, the Association for Community Living – Manitoba and the Federal government. Regional networks were created with leadership provided by the local Community Living Associations.

The focus of the initiative is to ensure people living with intellectual disabilities are free from abuse, neglect and mistreatment in their homes, communities and in the many systems, including justice, that affect their lives directly. Our work is directed at prevention, incident management, and activities that support independent capacity-building in personal safety.

The Winnipeg Safety Network’s membership includes representation from self-advocates, families, the Vulnerable Persons’ Commissioner’s Office, Public Guardian and Trustee and the Community Living disability Services, Department of Families, Winnipeg Police Services, Opportunities For Independence,  FASD Life’s Journey, and Inclusion Winnipeg. Membership is open to organizations and groups interested in advancing people’s right to safety and well-being. For more information contact us.
